Many people are surprised to find out that Jesus talked more about the subject of money than heaven, hell or prayer; the only thing Jesus spoke of more than money was the Kingdom of God! Of course, God doesn’t need our money…so there must be some connection between our giving and what’s in our hearts. Jesus said that “where our treasure is, there our hearts will also be” (Matthew 6:21). Giving helps keep our heart from becoming selfish and materialistic. Giving is a “freeing” experience.
The Way To Give
“Generously” and “cheerfully”, plain and simple!! At Life In Christ Church, we don’t believe that a 10 percent tithe is a New Testament requirement. It may surprise some that we preach “giving”, but we don’t preach “tithing”. There is no artificial number we throw out there for people to feel they’ve done their share. Instead, we ask you to give generously and cheerfully as the scriptures teach:
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV
In fact, we find that those who give joyfully take on the attitude of “why stop at 10 percent”?!
Where Do I Give?
We believe financial support of a church is a great avenue of giving. An example of the early church collecting money for their needs is found in the Bible at 1 Corinthians 16:1-2:
“Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also. On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.” NASB
Life In Christ Church is a “non-denominational” church. We rely upon the freely given donations of the people that attend or send gifts in order to pay salaries, electric bills, operate children’s programs & ministries, reach out to the community, maintain the building, etc. We thank you for any generous gift you choose to send.
How Do I Give To Life In Christ Church?
